How to generate web pages from Google Sheets
To generate web pages from Google Sheets, put one page per row and one field per column, then connect the sheet to your site with a page generator plugin, an automation tool such as Zapier, a CSV import, or a site builder's CMS import. Each row becomes a page; the hard part is not the connection but making sure every row holds enough unique content to be worth a page.

This guide is for agencies and marketers who already keep services, cities, products or listings in a spreadsheet and want a page for each row on a WordPress or no-code site. Disclosure: it is written by the team behind Scaleo SEO (scaleo.in) by Reinvent Digital, which generates pages from a service and city list. Every method below works without it.
What are the ways to turn a Google Sheet into web pages?
There are five common routes. They differ in whether pages stay in sync with the sheet after launch, and in who writes the words on each page.
| Method | Works with | Stays in sync? | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Page generator plugin | WordPress (LPagery and similar) | Yes, on paid plans with sheet sync | Location and service pages from one template |
| Automation tool | Zapier, Pabbly Connect, Make, into WordPress and others | New rows only, unless you build update steps | A steady trickle of new pages or posts |
| CSV import | WordPress with WP All Import and custom fields | When you re-run the import | Rich per-row content in many fields |
| Site builder CMS import | Webflow, Framer and other CMS collections | When you re-import or use a sync add-on | No-code sites with a collection template |
| AI generator | A platform or script that writes each page from the row | Depends on the tool | Sheets with keywords and facts but no written copy |
How should you set up the Google Sheet?
Every method reads the sheet the same way, so set it up once and properly. A clean sheet saves more time than any tool choice.
- Use one row per page and one header row. No merged cells, no blank rows in the middle, no notes beside the data.
- Add the URL fields first: page title, slug, and the parent or category the page belongs to. Write slugs yourself (lower case, hyphens) so URLs never change by accident.
- Add the SEO fields: SEO title (about 60 characters) and meta description (about 155), unique on every row.
- Add one column per content section, not one giant "content" column: intro, details, prices, areas covered, FAQs, contact. Templates map cleanly to columns; they cannot pick apart a single block of text.
- Add image columns with an image URL and its alt text, so each page can carry its own picture.
- Add a status column such as draft, ready or published, and only let the tool create pages from rows marked ready.
Our service area page template lists the sections a location or city page needs, which maps directly onto columns.
How do you create WordPress pages from a Google Sheet with a plugin?
A page generator plugin is the most direct route for location and service pages. You design one page with placeholders such as {city} or {service}, and the plugin creates a page per row.
- Build one template page in your editor or page builder, with placeholders that match your column headers.
- Connect the sheet as the data source, or upload it as CSV if your plan has no sheet connection.
- Map the slug, title and parent to their columns.
- Generate as drafts and review pages from three different rows.
- Turn on sync if you want later edits in the sheet to update the pages.
Sync is usually a paid feature. LPagery's help centre, for example, says its Google Sheet sync is available on its Extended plan and above, can run hourly, twice daily, daily or weekly, and creates, updates or deletes pages only for the actions you enable. Check the current plan of any plugin before you build on it. If the site uses Elementor, see how to bulk create pages in Elementor for the builder-specific parts.
How do you send Google Sheets rows to WordPress with Zapier or Pabbly?
Automation tools watch the sheet and create a post or page whenever a new row appears. They suit a steady flow of new pages more than a one-time launch of hundreds.
- Choose the trigger: a new row, or a row whose status changes to ready.
- Add the WordPress action to create a post or page, connected with an account that can publish.
- Map each column to the title, content, slug, status and featured image.
- Write the post ID back to the sheet so later steps can update the same page instead of creating a duplicate.
- Test with one row, check the page, then switch the flow on.
Two things trip people up: these tools bill by task, so hundreds of rows can cost more than a plugin, and editing a row does not change the page unless you build a separate update flow.
How do you import a Google Sheet into WordPress as CSV?
For a one-time launch with rich content in many fields, export the sheet (File, then Download, then CSV) and import it with a tool such as WP All Import into pages or a custom post type, mapping each column to a custom field. Our guide to creating location pages in WordPress automatically walks through that import step by step.
Can you make pages from Google Sheets on Webflow or other no-code builders?
Yes. Webflow, Framer and similar builders have CMS collections: you design one collection page template, import the sheet as CSV into the collection, and the builder creates one page per item. Sync add-ons can keep the collection updated from the sheet. Check your plan's CMS item limit before planning hundreds of pages.
Will pages generated from a spreadsheet rank on Google?
Only if each row gives a reader something the other rows do not. The method of creation is not the problem; sameness is. Google's spam policies describe scaled content abuse as making many pages "for the primary purpose of manipulating search rankings and not helping users", whatever tool made them, and name pages targeted at specific cities that funnel users to one page as doorway abuse.
- Fill the content columns with facts, not the same sentence with the city name swapped. If a row only differs in one cell, it does not need its own page.
- Link the pages from a hub page and their parent service, and list them in the sitemap. In our indexing study, the one site that lagged at 46% indexed had pages missing from its sitemap and no internal links to them.
- Publish in batches and watch Search Console before adding more rows.
Which method should you choose?
If the sheet already holds the finished words, the choice is about where the site lives: a page generator plugin or CSV import for WordPress, a CMS import for Webflow or Framer, and an automation tool for a trickle of new rows. If the sheet holds only a list of services and cities and the copy still has to be written, the connection is the easy part and the writing is the work.
That second case is what Scaleo SEO is built for. You give it the services and cities, and it researches each city, writes every page on its own from the business's facts, has a second AI model score each page, and publishes to WordPress, Elementor, headless ACF or static HTML. It shows the page count before a campaign starts. See how Scaleo SEO builds location pages.
Questions about generating pages from Google Sheets
Can Google Sheets create website pages on its own?
No. Google Sheets stores the data, and another tool turns each row into a page: a WordPress plugin, an automation tool, an import, or a site builder's CMS. The sheet stays the single place to edit the data.
Will pages update when I change the Google Sheet?
Only with a tool that syncs. Some page generator plugins and CMS sync add-ons update pages on a schedule, usually on paid plans. A plain CSV import or a "new row" automation does not change pages you already created.
How many pages can I generate from one sheet?
Technically thousands, limited by your plugin, automation tasks or CMS plan. In practice, create a page only for rows with something unique to say, and publish in batches so you can check indexing.
Is it free to make pages from Google Sheets?
Partly. Free plugin versions and CSV exports cost nothing, but live sheet sync, large automation volumes and higher CMS item limits usually need paid plans.
Do spreadsheet-generated pages count as programmatic SEO?
Yes. Programmatic SEO means building many pages from structured data and one template. It works when each page answers a real search with real information; read what programmatic SEO is for the basics.
Have the list of services and cities, but not the copy?
Scaleo SEO turns a service and city list into researched, individually written pages and publishes them to your site. You can start on the Free plan today, no card needed, or tell us about a larger campaign.
